A question about the mast hole...

I currently have my sunfish outside. I should just cover it but was I wondering, when it rains obviously water goes into the hole where the mast goes. I know there is cork at the bottom of the mast hole and so water can evaporate. However, is it better to cover the hole? Or just leave it...

The eyestraps in the rear that hold the traveler are not secure...

In the rear of the sunfish there are two eyestraps one per side that secure the plastic covered wire that acts as a traveler to the boom. In any case, in each eyestrap one of the two screws is not entirely secure. For example, I can keep tightening the screw but it keeps screwing and never...

How to fasten the mast bottom cap with the two steel fasteners...

Mine was a very tight fit. I used an random orbital sander to bevel off the outer part of the cap. I then got it in with a rubber mallet. I'll keep watch on it but I may be good with that. But if I do use the pins I just drill holes and hammer them in? They don't fall all the way in or fall...

How to fasten the mast bottom cap with the two steel fasteners...

They are just two small little metal rods. Do I just insert the bottom cap into the mast, then drill a small hole for those two fasteners, hammer them in? Do I need to weld them on the outside? Otherwise they will just come out no? -Tristan

    Sunfish upper boom/spar...

I went with the black thick 32 inch zip ties. I finally got on the water after 2 years and it was great. The only thing is I found some cork coming out of the mast step. That's probably not good right hehe. There wasn't much water behind the porthole up at the front.

    Sunfish upper boom/spar...

I was able to have a local machinist create it for me. However, it he made the spar slightly thicker which I do like. The issue is that the plastic sail rings barely fit around the spar and they do snap in but easily snap off. So either I need to have him redo the spar or I was thinking of...

    Sunfish upper boom/spar...

It's been bent and I have bent it back into place several times. I took the sunfish out in high winds 22+ and the spar has bent right where i set the clove hitch. Anyhow, I can't find any sunfish retailers locally. It was going to cost $500 - $600 for shipping alone from some retailers. I...
