Is this part of the jigsaw we weren't aware of (as no one has mentioned it in any posts I've read).
Maybe it sheds a little light on why there is so much mistrust between all the parties in the Laser 'family'...
I've been using a Rooster buoyancy aid for the last 3 years. I cannot compare it to the Gill, as I haven't tried one of those, but the Rooster one has done the job for me and still looks like new.
Maybe I'm reading between the lines, but the way the statement is worded it seems the ISAF are more interested in the Laser trademark than the boat it's attached to.
This class of boat will never die, there are just way to many of them in existence for that to happen. It's still, numerically, the largest single class in every sailing club around me, by a long way.
The best thing that could happen to it IMHO is for control of the class (builders / sail...
I seem to remember, way back, that the ILCA said they didn't actually know what was in the agreement between BKI and LP, and weren't entitled to know, because they weren't party to it.
So the senario could be. BK tells the ILCA not to issue plaques, because LP have breached the agreement...
O rings from the hardware/auto store wont last 5 mins, although tempting on price, they are the wrong type of rubber. Recommend you replace them with one of the metal spring products now available. You'll probably never need to replace them again.
The RRS state that marks are 'passed', not 'rounded'. This is a very important distinction.
Our club uses a board with all the marks on it (wooden pegs) and a piece of string to draw out the desired course.
If the string crosses over itself, from one leg of the course to the next, it...
This evening a fellow club member told me that LP (in the UK) went bust last Friday.
He got this info from Rooster whilst at the London Dinghy Exhibition on Sunday.
This probably explains the lack of a Laser Performance stand at the RYA Dinghy Exhibition in London, over the weekend.
The 'Laser' products were represented by a local dealer, on a small stand in a corner.
I think you are having the same trouble the ILCA now finds itself in. From the reamble to the suggested rule change: "The ILCA is not a party to any of these “Kirby” agreements.".
I seem to remember Tracy saying that the ILCA has no idea what's in these "Kirby" agreements - I assume that's...
AlanD - sorry but I think you have it wrong.
The ILCA have told us that they didn't go out looking to get involved in any commercial dispute between the different commercial interests. THEY (the different builders) threatened us as Laser owners, in various ways. How can that be right?
The...
I'm with Tracy on this. Why is everyone blaming our Class Association? The ILCA didn’t create this situation, the various builders/rights owners did.
The threats from these commercial interests haven’t come as a result of the actions of our association, it was the other way around. We should...
To make matters worse, I have a feeling you wont hear anything from Company A or B on the 'issues'. They've kept silent on the matter up to now, and there must be a reason for that.
So ultimately it looks like we will have to make a decision based on incomplete data.
Re: rule change, builder
I'm not expert, but I totally agree. I asked the same question on another forum.
If I understand the circumstances correctly, and I might have got this wrong, but it does seem a bit rich if Mr Kirby isnt happy with what's going having sold his business/rights to a...
