    I just finished a new centerboard- red oak with a thick epoxy coating overall. I made it wider at the base, to add 108 sq. inches on the below-hull side view, or about 37% to the wetted area. This is the most I can fold into the centerboard trunk. Hopefully this will reduce the leeward drift...

    Can Spindrift Rascal carry the weight of an outboard?

    I recently bought a 1981 Spindrift Rascal, and am wondering if the transom is strong enough to carry a 5hp, 67lb motor. What kind of mounting bracket would put the least strain on the transom? A friend is diabetic, and it could become necessary to get him ashore quickly
