Carbon tiller & Extension Whats the big deal?

Nothing. Atleast thats what i heard today. I was talking to an ontario champion, whose raced with olympic class laser sailers. I asked him his opinion, he says not worth the money. But i suppose its still up to personal opinion. I still you the original wooden tiller with metal extension from...

What are Lasers actually selling for?

Hey ya, it really depends where you are prices vary alot, i bought mine (79' i believe..its skipping my mind right now) for $2200 last fall, it is in quite good shape however, and this was after shoping around for a while, this was the cheapest best priced, and it wasnt gonna stick around for a...

    May 1st.

I figured what better day to head out for the first sail of the season, other then May 1st. Im heading out soon onto lake ontario (still pretty cold), with 10knots of wind. I hope everyone else can get out as soon as possible, and brave that cold water, but remember to be safe.

    auto bailer

Yes as said above it should be completely flat... i mine is not installed yet (its going in this year...just got the boat last and previous owner didnt see the need:|) i think that possibly if it is somewhat old that when closing it the mechanism may have started to wear out and that may be a...

    Wet sanding..yet again

I know it has been covered a few times, but all fairly vage. So my question is, what is the best way to wet sand the bottom of your hull to get rid of scatches. I was thinking of startiing with an 800grit sandpaper, and lots of water, and then after one run of that just go up to 1200 to finnish...

    Fixing CenterBoard

I know its been partly discussed but if anyone could help me out that would be great. My centreboard at the back has a fairly large chip out of it, i got it with my boat used this way....last year i just left it and sailed, couldnt be bothered not to get the boat on the water as soon as...

Does your Laser have a name?

Hey, ya mines name is August. Two reasons 1) i got it in August 2)named after my dog who passed away recently (augistine or augi for short)...and as for putting the name on...i just use the good old sailing school way, some electrical tape on the transom.

    Wetsuit?

I recently just got mine. It is your "farmer john" type wet suit. Long legs sleevless arms...i think these are perfect...you can always just throw a wind breaker jacket or similar jacket on over top on those cold days and it allows for more movement. I would say go for it.

    dont even have boat yet

Hey, as for racing i acnt help you im looking to get into that this summer as well. But for your weight issue i would say you should be able to handle it easily, after a little getting use to the boat. I am only 145 and have been able to handle the boat quite well. (140-150 i believe is the...

Ideal Weight for laser std sailor
