Who can win the real race????

Terrible, terrible stuff Rob. Come sail with me and I'll buy you a non-bud. Back on topic.. Like I said, it takes me about an hour to rig.

Who can win the real race????

They are <f-bomb>ing close to water. It was funny in the 80s...

Who can win the real race????

Hah! Now show me an American sailor who actually drinks bud! Bud is America's Bass... it exports well, but most real drinkers drink real beer.

What kind of line do you think this is?

Is it an older style Marlow Excel? Like a 4mm?

Who can win the real race????

Yep thats it. I go sailing to enjoy myself. Its not a job, and you don't get extra points for showing up, not talking to anyone, and being back out of the parking lot before the first beer is opened. I like sailing, I like talking about sailing, and I like talking with sailors. Of course...

Who can win the real race????

30 minutes? Geez thats fast... takes me over an hour: Pull up to the launch site, untie everything, remove the cover, find someone to help me flip the boat off the trailer onto the dolly (~5 min) Take a phone call from work (~3 min) Pull all the parts out of my car (~2 min) Wander over and...

Guidelines for Winter Sailing - wind and temp limits

In central NC there there are two reasons really: 1) The winter is when the best winds are. During the summer we get a lot of drifters 0-5, during the winter 8-15 seems to be normal. 2) Why not? We have very mild winters here, if its 60 degrees out and blowing 12, why wouldn't you go out...

Guidelines for Winter Sailing - wind and temp limits

Recently our group has been discussing minimum temperatures and conditions for sailing in the winter. Trying to take air and water temperatures and wind speed into account, we're hoping to come up with a formula to determine sailability. Most of our members have wetsuits, but this being North...

    This is one HEAVY BOAT

They are definitely easier to handle, but ultimately not as good for your hull. Personally I'm using a deck down trailer. I'd rather end up with road rash on the deck than on the hull.

    This is one HEAVY BOAT

Once you finish your trailer, post some pics! Better yet, document your building process on the TLF knowledge center: http://www.laserforum.org/know/index.php?title=Trailers

"Dead" Laser surgery, or what to do with an old Laser

Kind of makes for a heavy Moth though doesn't it? I would think it would be tough to turn the 130 lbs laser hull into a 75 lbs Moth. Or does replacing the deck with plywood actually save that much weight?

Class Politics Ban Coach / Nannie Boats?? Already Illegal?

Beautiful execution of a Straw Man attack Ross! By exaggerating and misrepresenting both sides of the issue you make it self evident that that only solution is to allow coach boats to help their students cheat. Bravo!

Class Politics Ban Coach / Nannie Boats?? Already Illegal?

Ross, I think once again that you are missing the point. Nobody is arguing that coaching won't make you a better sailor (quite the opposite in fact). The issue is that the added comfort and situational intelligence from an on the water support team un-levels the playing field. If coach boats...

    Haarstick sails

Haarstick sails are faster than Hyde or North due sails to the naturally favorable environmental conditions of Rochester NY... they are even faster than the Intensity sails.... If you're interested, I know some folks that will sell you a 20 year old Haarstick sail for only slightly more than a...

Daggerboard fell thru when I was turtled

Chainsaw is just kidding about the vortex fin. You should be able to keep the board in by increasing the tension on the bungee cord. The tension combined with the brake should be enough to hold your board in even while turtled.
