Nope. Just muddy Midwest lake water. I have one if the blocks on the boom tearing away. I thought I would run a 6" piece of something on the inside and set it with screws.

I once had a boom that had a wooden closet rod on the inside that fit nicely. I'm not 100% sure but I believe a chain link fence rail fits on the inside as we'll. I have a repair of my own I need to do and will look at these options soon. If it works, I'll report back.

The advice I have seen on this forum is to not worry too much about spider cracks...... Embrace the character of an older boat and go sailing. However, I have repainted two boats, both with spider cracks, and it worked great to simply sand them out. Just be careful to not sand into the gel coat...

The crack in mine was not as severe but I did the same repair last spring. I drilled holes and glued wooden dowels. I sailed in heavy wind several times last summer and had no problem with the crack expanding. Here's a birds eye look at the edge of my rudder.
