Any idea what year this Sunfish is?

Does the hull have the new style rudder? (first introduced in 1972) Does the cockpit have a storage area? (introduced 1971) Does the boat have a serial number stamped on the back? Your boat has bow stripes only (pre 1973) however front stripes were only options from 1965 to 1971 (all boats...

I have repaired several sunfish and those cracks in the second and third pictures are quite common... i find that they appear mainly in four spots... two on each side of the boat... you will find that they will simply reappear if you do not do a strong enough repair... these cracks are caused by...

    Sailfish Bow Plug

I recently began to refurbish an old sailfish and i found that the sunfish plug was slightly too large to fit the hole. I just replaced it finding the cap alone is rare anyways and i already had a new plastic one so i just felt it was worth replacing.

This Certainly is a Silly Thread

as obvious as it is that the world is 3/4 water and 1/4 land it is made perfectly clear that god intends us to spend 3/4 of our timesailing and just 1/4 of our time doing other things on land

    Right of Way

Today i was sailing slow and steady i was even relaxing in the cockpit when a family in a 20 something foot motor boat comes by at fullspeed and goes only fifteen or twenty feet off of my bow. Now did i miss the memo or are the right of way laws still as follows. When operating a...

    Rear storage compartment

One solution for this is to buy a new car;). okay you dont need to buy a new one just find one of those cargo nets that come with them to keep the trunk organized. Those little nets that most people just dispose of make great tools to keep your stuff in place on and in the boat.

    inspection port placement

I have a Viking with a six inch inspection port cut into the forward wall of the cockpit. If you put one there you just need to cut it off to either side so you don't accidentally hit the daggerboard slot. Other than that I think that it is a great spot to put a port. And they even make a...

    Newbie's Free Sunfish...

When you buy a marine product to put on your boat you may not be getting what you expect. Certain marine epoxies do have the strength to deal with the constant pounding of waves. And if you sail off a beach being dragged up the beach but I have most simply do not. I find that there is a large...

    Newbie's Free Sunfish...

I have found that resin is stronger and stiffer than epoxy which is what is required in this application. When it comes to the brand of resin I have found there to be little difference in the resins except their name. The only thing you really need to look at what the label says about water...
