I'm looking at painting my old Laser with Rustoleum Topside because I'm cheap, but I was just wondering how much paint I should get and if I should use primer if I'm painting over old paint. Rustoleum comes in quarts, so would one work, or would I need two quarts? Thanks!
Hi all, well I just bought a really old Fireball with almost all of the deck and hull soft... at first I was thinking of injecting epoxy in between the top fiberglass layer and the foam, but now I'm thinking of more drastic measures, like cutting off the whole deck and making a new one (I would...
Oh wow!! don't everybody respond at once to my thread  I changed my plan again anyway though... I'm getting a Fireball so now I'm thinking of making the trailer double decker with the Fireball on the bottom and the Laser deck down on top. Any suggestions on how to make the rack for the...
Yeah I'm kinda in the same boat as you (haha). I just got my Laser a couple weeks ago and I'm also still trying to figure things out. My hiking strap was really loose too whenever I got my boat, but I had a lot of trouble hiking with it like this so I just tightened it some. I can't really...
Oh this happened to happen to me just a couple days ago! What I did is I got a leftover piece of dowel rod (it wasn't one of those wimpy ones; it was about the size of a quarter in diameter) that was about a foot long and a rubber mallet. I put the end of the dowel rod in one of the grooves...

Well I would say if it comes with the spars or blades go for it. Then you could just buy another Laser hull in better condition for cheap that isn't so much of a lost cause. But if you're really set on a project then all I can say is have fun!! : )
Yeah I used acetone to get some adhesive off of my sail... I think I saw on North Sails' website to use it. It also mentioned that you could use a water/bleach mixture in a 30:1 ratio to get mildew off. This might work with the color too, or it might just be too weak of a solution.
Hi, I just got my first Laser a couple of weeks ago. So far, I'm liking it way better than my Spindrift 15 (which I just sold), except for the trailer. The boat came with an A-frame trailer made for small power boats, but it was modified to haul the Laser deck down. This setup is a real pain...
