Solo sailing and capsizing; Buzzard's Bay

That sounds easy, maybe I'm making it tougher than it is. What do you do when coming back in toward the dock?

solo sailing Capri 14.2 This is something I always wanted to try, solo sailing. Since my crew (wife) often works on weekends I have wanted to take the boat out myself. I have not tried as I am a little intimidated. When you leave the dock under power and get into open water I think it would be...

    Outboard Motor or Paddle?

I use a Minkota (old) trolling motor and lead acid battery in a battery box that is fitted to the deck under the rudder. Works well. I don't see the concern about weight. Also carry paddles ...just in case.

    Capri 14.2 garageability

Fortunately I have a 23' deep garage and my boat fits right in with mast and all with about a foot to spare. Now only if Spring would come early.....

    Deck cleats...

Kent....I'm in Nappanee just South of Elkhart. I like the idea of clipping to the traveler, simple. I think deck cleats would work but they would have to be bolt through as there is a lack of good structural support.

    Deck cleats...

Has anyone mounted a deck cleat to a Capri? If so where did you mount them? I don't see much support to attach to. There are times when I would like to tie up to a dock and all I have is a bow line. Steve

    Advice for Newbie

Just got my Capri 14.2 last Summer. Am a novice sailor. We (wife) use ours on lakes where the wind in very shifty. It is a lot of fun. We are careful and if we feel we are going "over" I just let loose the mail sail and the boat stops. Unless you are racing and push her to the limits, I believe...

    Another new Capri 14.2 owner

Just got my boat this weekend. 1989 Capri 14.2. Never sailed but always wanted to. Hope to get it in the water soon. Have some members of a local sailing club offering to teach me the ropes so to speak. Looking forward to it. Anyone from Northern Indiana on the list? Jib is worn, anyone know of...
