I doubt they would make more...the market is too diverse, most of the people who would buy new boats are doing so... BUT it would get mote people out on the water playing the game...at that is more important than anything else!
I sit crouched on the balls of my feet, sheet in hand. Makes it easy to move your weight around the boat to counteract rolls. Sailing by the lee and reaching really is the best option but if you absolutely have to sail downwind I find the best thing to do is sail with the sail sheeted in further...
Mast step isn't a bad fix... I know plenty who have done it.
Fixing a soft hull and deck, not so much.
You'll end up adding so much weight it won't be competitive
So what do people consider the best way to stay fit for laser sailing? I think running and cycling but I've heard lots of different Ideas being thrown about!
I support Kirby in this. Yes this is annoying as hell, and there'll be a delay before any new boats are built, but that only will affect the 1% who want new boats....the same 1% the upper echelons of ILCA seem only to listen to.
Hopefully this will lead to a cheaper, better product for us...

I use a rooster Carbon tiller that I think could have been the original on the boat in 2003.
No complaints at all it has performed brilliantly ever since I got it.

I think a Laser would be the best of both worlds, I can't really say what size rig you want, as that depends mostly on your height/weight/fitness etc....
