I have the old style cunningham.
Yesterday, I pulled out the eye that leads the line from the mast back to the cleat. What do I do? Do I need bigger screws?
Does the new systems have a different way of handling the power from the cunningham, or should the deck of the boat hold it by itself...
Do you guys never go out on a calm day? I mean, I want to take this serious, but on a flat water day with a gentle breeze, do you never want to just glide around? And do you put helmets on to do that?
Another question: Have anyone tried the Typhoon Race drysuit? Is it ok?
Re: I now own a Laser!
I've been sailing for all my life, though my last dinghy was a Europe some years ago. A 5/3 is a wetsuit with 5 mm body and 3 mm "flexzones". I was thinking about that and a drytop with solid layering. Of course with people in or near a motor boat for safety.
I guess...
I got my first Laser yesterday. 70's boat, but very well kept.
I have searched this forum, but can't find a good answer; does anyone have experience using a 5/3 mm wetsuit and dry top over that? Would that make it possible to sail in dry suit conditions? I am kind of hoping to get out on the...
I´m mixing up two different articles now. Can´t remember wich one I was referring to. This is the rooster article (http://www.roostersailing.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=rig&Store_Code=1), but I think there was another one I was thinking of. I´ll let you know...
Sounds reasonable, TonyB.
I started this thread after reading the "Understand the un-stayed rig" article on roostersailing.com, where the writer is sort of saying that a lot of people are using too much vang, just because they can.
Rob B and WPB Sailor: THAT IS THE GUY I WANT TO BE!
I'm going to pick up my boat this sunday - my very first Laser. I'll give you an update on the boat number when I know.
Thanks bjmoose, you provided the answer I was fishing for. If a guy in a new Laser adjust his trim too much, and I get the right positions, it won't help him having a new hull and better trim line control.
I have followed the rather heated thread on the quality of Laser sails, and have a question to you more experienced sailors:
Wouldn't it be possible to produce and sell hi tech sails, in the correct Laser-shape, for everyday training? That way you could get relevant training every day, all...
Thank you for your response.
I'm thinking about testing the sail that came with the boat, and maybe get a new(er) one. If I find good positions for outhaul and kick, I can't imagine the hull being to different from the new ones.
Looking forward to the season - still ice on the fjords here...
Hello!
I'm new here. I gave up my Europe dinghy sailing about ten years ago. Now that I have the time again - just finished studies, I have bought an old Laser to get started. I realise that I will not be an olympic contender, but if this works ok, and I get some speed in the boat, I will...
