    El Cheapo Sunfish Dolly

No worries! I think I might just drill some holes and ties some lines to make sure the arms don't collapse. I need to weigh this boat. Sucker is heavy.

    El Cheapo Sunfish Dolly

I knew I should have trusted my gut. My 1969 sunfish probably weighs twice as much as yours. I wish I would have built in a cross bar and bolted it. I tested it out and one of the arms fell over. I went back and added some screws to the weak spots. Now my bailer plug is broke. Will the plug...

    El Cheapo Sunfish Dolly

Thanks! I bought the stuff to make it last night, although I just realized that the foam tires I bought at Tractor Supply are 5/8's so time for another trip to Lowe's to convert my hardware.

    El Cheapo Sunfish Dolly

I am looking to make this dolly and printed off your plans (thank you by the way!), but I have a question. What keeps the two bars from collapsing when you put the weight of the boat on them? It looks to me like they would pivot down unless you ran bolts through the pvc and 45 elbow joints. Is...

    My 1969 SF "Restoration" Project

My immediate plans are to get this bad boy in the water ASAP. I would love to be able to sail it Saturday, but I am waiting on some items I ordered online: carriage bolt for the rudder sail rings inspection deck plate for the hole I already cut for it in the stern. I also need to make a...

    My 1969 SF "Restoration" Project

Here are a few more pictures. I took some closeups of these bumps that are all over the deck. They were left there by the fingers of tiny vines that were all over the boat. I scrubbed them the best I could but if you run your hand over them, you can feel the bumps.

    My 1969 SF "Restoration" Project

I am new to this forum but so glad to have found a wealth of information here. I've spent the past three years sailing a Tanzer 16 and occasionally help crew my father-in-law's McGregor 26. He came across a good deal on three old Sun Fish and I ended up buying one of them. It is a 1969 and, of...

    Tiller Mount Through Bolt

I am in the process of getting a 1969 Sunfish ready to sail. I just ordered two bronze 1/4 x 8 inch carriage bolts with 20 thread from Clark Craft. The original bolt is 7.5 inches long but I can cut this down if I need the half inch for clearance. $12.50 for two bolts wasn't bad...
