    Flying Laser!

Its been pretty calm over here on the east coast (Palm Beach). Went out last weekend with the surfboard on the roof to get to the beach and find it completely flat (and a no swimming sign for sharks). I picked the wrong floating fiberglass that day.

Wonderful day of sailing in Palm Beach, FL yesterday!

Hey all, Got a chance to take the laser out for the first time in a long while, probably about 6 months. Went out on the intracoastal around Lantana Blvd (by the old Key Lime house for any Floridians here) and sailed about 3/4 of the way to the Boynton Beach bridge, then turned around and...

    Rebedding Deck fittings

Wow, good to hear. Kind of upset I missed the sunday weather, it sounded nice, but thats what I get for drinking...anyway. I ended up going out Monday evening around 4pm out of the Boynton Boat ramp near the Ritz - it was actually pretty nice. The ramp blocks a good bit of wind, which makes...

Does anyone use a surf strap

Only if everything is completely in the water. If the boat is upright or on its side, the wind can push it faster than the current. I got the idea from going out on a fishing boat, they throw the bag overboard to slow their drift. It works too, because the boat will drift with the wind faster...

Does anyone use a surf strap

instead of tying the surf strap to yourself, you can try to tie it to a bag and let the bag sit in the cockpit. In the event of a capsize, the bag goes overboard and fills with water. That way, if the boat goes with the current, it will have to drag the bag through the water, making it slower...

    Rebedding Deck fittings

WPB Sailor, Just wanted to know if you ever got your boat out of singer island into the ocean on sunday? Saturday, we went out of Singer island on a 36' twin engine fishing boat for some offshore fishing, and at the time the thought of sailing a laser out there was pure madness. Going under...

    Rebedding Deck fittings

Yes, I can rig it bow into the wind. But if the wind is gusty, it can swing the boom about no matter what direction the boat is pointed, and the inertia of it can be pretty strong. Additionally, like we were tlaking about earlier, even if I do rig the boat with the bow into the wind, I have...

Some maintenance questions for an old boat

Pete, Your post helps a bunch. No, no one mentioned that the OD of the port was 5.5" until this thread, which I finally figured out after someone posted the website that had the specifications on it, thats where I was getting confused. I got the boat turned over last night, and found it had...

    Rebedding Deck fittings

Oh, what a disappointment! They don't even have daily or weekly rates? At the clearwater center, I just paid the $20 to use the place for the weekend. I'd be very interested in trying it out, and wouldn't mind paying for a weekend or a month, but a $1500 cost up front is just not something...

    Rebedding Deck fittings

Oh, and I will try to pick up some 4200 from Boater's world on my way home today.

    Rebedding Deck fittings

Wow, you've definitely peaked my curiosity. Okay, tell me about this open house that PBSC is having? I didn't see anything about it on their website (I checked about a week ago). I was actually considering just coming up to PBSC and seeing if they had daily rates for using their facilities...

    Rebedding Deck fittings

Pete, I was out at Home Depot last night and was able to find some 5200, but I didn't see any 4200 there. I have a new hiking strap being delivered tomorrow, and I plan on going out on the water Sunday. The 5200 I bought is fast drying (24 hour cure time), but I guess I'm just learning that...

Some maintenance questions for an old boat

I have no idea why I couldn't find that the first time I looked on their site. Thanks for the link, I see the OD is larger than the ID, which I expected, and the ID is the one they are quoting for the naming of the size. No problem on the saw, I'll get my hands on one. Thanks though!

Some maintenance questions for an old boat

Yes, thats where I was planning on cutting, but I guess my post was a bit confusing. I just wanted to make sure HE didn't cut on the centerline, because he said the saw was a perfect fit. I didn't want to cut on the flat part and then realize the hole came out a different size because he cut...

Some maintenance questions for an old boat

Wow, really? Thanks for the info, I like this idea. I'm confused though, how does a 5.5" hole saw cut a perfect hole for a 5" port? I understand that the flange covers up some of the excess clearance, but I guess I am a bit vague on the dimensions of the port itself. (or am I missing...
