    Stuck Carbon Top Section

Windsurf Trick: On the top section try to put a windsurf boom (wishbone) or two if necessary for leverage, on the bottom use the gooseneck to keep it from turning. Pull from the windsurf boom as close to the end as possible for more leverage. It should work

Laser Cockpit Autobailer "Not class legal for racing" . . . What?

I think that, as their doing with the hulls, they should "legalize" more part builders with certain requirements, many of the non-legal stuff: fittings, vangs, bailers, blocks, do not give you any real advantage anyway. A laser boom is just an aluminum tube (and so are the mast sections)...

    “Practice” sails, blades etc.

Of course it does. Actually it's World Sailing who has no authority over any sailing club. WS has authority over the races organised by the club only if the club wants a particular race to be held under those rules (usually one or two of the races we do here in a year). I race every Friday...

Laser Cockpit Autobailer "Not class legal for racing" . . . What?

Come on LaLi, you know there are not enough sails like that for even a single club's fleet... And for 130€? The cheapest used sails in good condition (and that means one season, not two races) around here go for about 300€ if you call the right people. This was the last sail on sale on our local...

    “Practice” sails, blades etc.

It's a trade-off: decent price/being allowed to race. No real difference in quality, performance etc... They say it's the price you have to pay for real one design racing though.

Laser Cockpit Autobailer "Not class legal for racing" . . . What?

Legal Sail: +600€ Practice sail: 139€ Same with everything else, so unless you are planning on racing ILCA sanctioned events, go for whatever lets you have fun without feeding the greedy monopolist and waste your money, nobody at club level really cares....

Class Politics  WS Equipment committee rejected the TLC application for International status

Just read in Sailing Anarchy: "The Equipment committee has just voted to reject the TLC application for International status, and also intends to propose a change to the regulations so that such applications are not considered in the future " Interesting part starts at 2:12:45 on this video.

    7 min Laser sailing video

It's a cleaning product, it has paint thinner in it (solvent) and has very little lubricant. It's good to de-grip rusted screws but it'll generate more rust than before. It's not meant to protect the surface, actually, it's the other way around. For galvanic corrosion (two different metals in...

    Isn't WD40 pretty corrosive itself?

You can sail with a fixed outhaul, and you can sail without a downhaul. You can't get away without a vang.
