This time looks like he is in Rio. Pix and article - in Spanish - here. http://ego.globo.com/Gente/Noticias/0,,MUL1662834-9798,00-ANTES+DE+SEGUIR+PARA+SHOW+PAUL+MCCARTNEY+VELEJA+NO+RIO.html
The fwyc.org site has the final results posted, but they are only partly sorted making them really hard to use. I resorted them in Excel and made the attached PDF. Hopefully they are right. Congrats to Fernando on the win. Good to see someone from Puerto Rico back in Sunfish. Looks like...
Regarding the Central American, South American and other non-US competitors at the Midwinters: A lot of the participation is due to the upcoming Pan Am games in Mexico. Beldar had it almost right, but not quite. Sailing in the Pan Ams works similarly to the Olympics. A country must first...
Yes, back in the day I had a boat with that Harken base, and all four screws fit on the accessible part of the lip. We did not use fender washers, but something a bit smaller. You will probably have to fiddle some to get the eyestrap under there, but it will save putting in an inspection...
By the way, you do not need to install an inspection port to put the Harken on. All the screws should go thru the deck in the lip area of the cockpit that overhangs the cockpit. None should go into the hull.
You can install both the strap and the Harken without an inspection port. Insert...
I will miss Brian's enthusiasm and his great laugh. I remember him winning the NY downstate regionals in the early/mid '90s, so he was a tough competitor. So sorry to hear this news. Chris
My condolences to Wayne's family. And his loss will really be felt here. He knew so much and shared so much of his time and knowledge. I really don't think he can be replaced, and we are the worse for it.
Chris
The US Sailing sailor of the week gives Sunfish a plug!
Sorry about this insane URL:

My boat is set up so no port is needed. I have an eyestrap on top of my deck that my harken mounts to. Under the deck there is an upside down eyestrap on the same pair of screws. I tie the front of the strap to that. Works great and no port needed. Chris
What a GREAT writeup. All racers should read this - and save a copy to read in the future. I am going to reco to our President, Derek, that this be in the next issue of Windward Leg if Bill is ok with that. Chris
I am the head of the class advisory council, which is responsible for our rules. Here are my comments:
Note that the wishbone tiller is no longer available, as Holt, the manufacturer, went belly-up. Boats are now coming with aluminum tillers of approx the same dimensions as the wood...
I heard a few of the results. John Meyer from VA won. Craig Williams of Stone Harbor Nj was second and art Littleton of Cooper River YC in Nj was third.
With the lay day in Italy upon us, I thought I would relate a few things that happened the last time the Worlds were in Italy. That was back in 1985, and it was the third time the Worlds had been in Europe – it had already been in Italy once previously, and also in Holland.
The boats were...
I thought you retired??
Looked like the boards were too thick. LP announced a new mfr a while back. Belive the boards were to be made of glass instead of foam. Apparently the new mfr does not own a calipers. Chris
The twin tube ones were super stiff but a bit heavy. But probably due to the stiffness worth getting. We better wait for reports from the Worlds on these new ones to be sure there are no issues. Chris
