It's too hot!

It just hit 104 in Missoula, MT. It's 85 in my office - too hot to type or draw. We are leaving in 10 minutes for Glacier National Park, where we will hike to the top of a nice cool mountain.

See ya...

Why not sail your Laser and "accidentally" capsize or fall off? That's my favorite when it's hot!

psssh, hit the beach, go surfing

but no summer surfers! kooks and bennys go home!

sorry, I'm rather passionate about my beach...

Record 107 Friday.

We climbed 3500 feet in 6 miles, rocky and hot (after the wrong turn and an extra 6 miles up the wrong drainage - oop). Sperry Chalet - Unbelievable, spectacular place. Waterfalls crashing off cliffs 1000 feet above you in three directions.

Hiked back down 6 miles Sun afternoon, then jumped into turquoise-colored Lake McDonald in the park. Chilly.

On the way home, down the east shore of Flathead Lake, there were whitecaps and chop as far as you could see. And me with aching knees and no boat.

But what a trip.

Merrily, somehow that just doesn't sound like you...

I was joking guys, come on, work with me!

Hey, this is me!

"Women: big and long hair with obnoxious gucci shades and other cranium accessories, polished French manicure with matching pedicure, globbed makeup, animal print handbag, platform flipflops."

Y'all know how I love walking on the beach with platform flipflops. It builds the calves. And ya know I'm very carefully manicured and pedicured whilst Laser sailing.

Not!

Gotta ask, in your context, what's a "kook"?

In my closet.

thanks God, lets keep that in the house

never on the beach!

Actually, I have sunglasses that I bought at a flyfishing store. They have polarized lenses and they fit over my regular glasses. To fit, I had to get big ones, and do they ever look goofy!

That reminds me, last autumn after frostbiting, my husband and were grabbing a bite at the local grill with some of our fleet members. I was talking to a 15-year-old about cold weather clothing. He asked whether I wore hiking pants on the inside or outside of my dry suit. I said inside, because that's where they fit. He said, "If you wore them on the outside, they'd look funny."

Me, "Does it look like I care what I look like out there?"

Him, "No."

My husband and I were rolling on the floor laughing. Some woman is going to have her hands full with training him. Diplomacy. Learn it early for a happy life!

I just returned from vacation. We rented a beach house for 2 weeks. I'm 40 and was determined to learn to surf, but I was worried about pissing off the locals by invading their turf on a rented, roto molded "Bic" log. Lucky for me those guys don't get out during the middle of the day, middle of the week and bad weather. So, I had the place to myself to look really foolish. At least until I caught my first wave. It's history now and I'm hooked. Looking for my first long board.

You never forget your first longboard, and I've still got mine. A couple of guys named Hoyle and Jim designed it.. Very nice, heavy, not so stiff, takes lots of effort to keep it going up wind in any breeze substantial enough to move a flag.. Probably wouldn't be much fun without it's sail in the surf though..
