Broken Sunfish or Laser with no sail & mast?

I have the opportunity to get a sunfish or laser sailboat for free. The sunfish comes with everything like a sail and mast, but the hull needs fiberglassing work. The laser does not come with a mast or sail, but does have a hull that is in great shape. What should I chose. Thanks

take 'em both... Sell the Laser hull to buy materials to fix the Sunfish...... or sell the fish to buy Laser parts. I'd do the first option though. Fiberglassing is fairly easy. The "skill" comes in doing it in a timely, economical fashion with great looking results...that in many cases end up being stronger than original....rather than looking like somebody caulked with a toothbrush. I see a lot of excess work, because beginners don't know what really is needed. Kinda like double and tripling up rafters/trusses in your house, rather than just using the correct rafter in the first place.

This is what they look like. Laser is what you see is what you get. Sunfish comes with mast and sail.

Well, the first thing I can tell you is I am pretty sure that isn't a Laser! Looks more like a Force 5 but I don't think it's a Force 5 either. Even if it is parts will be hard to find, so take the Sunfish!

Never heard of a Spera Super, but here—offered at $3500:

More sail area, more room, more weight. If it's only the hull being offered, parts will set you back. (Hope that's not a crack across the deck!)

Parts are seldom a problem with a Sunfish, plus everybody's heard of Sunfish, so selling it (eventually) would not be a problem. Plus, the later models with the rear cubby are more desirable.

Doesn't the paint scheme of the that Sunfish indicate some special Sunfish model year—worth a few bucks more? :)

The yellow one is a Quiet Waters Sailboat - Spera Super.
No it's not. It's a Laser 2. See the thread with the same title in the Laser forum.

Quiet Waters Sailboats Spera Super in great condition

Neither had I. Interesting Laser 2 copy/fake/ripoff. As expected, some details show that the people involved didn't know what they were doing. Not worth even close to what's being asked.

It is not

That Sunfish color scheme was made from early 70s to late 80s so it is not exactly rare.

Take the Sunfish if it is not waterlogged. It should weigh 139 pounds, so 2 people should be able to lift it without straining. Everyone knows what a Sunfish is so there is resale value.

I'd take both if you have a place for long term storage of the Laser 2. I find that
if you wait long enough and look diligently, parts will eventually show up that
people want to get rid of for next to nothing or at a reasonable price. May take a year or two or may happen
quickly, you never can tell.
