Little hole under hiking strap

theres a little tiny hole under the block end of teh hiking strap in teh cockpit. does anybody know what this is for? also, is it illigal to fill it? Would this be beneficial/not beneficial?

I believe that is the breather hole. You do not want to fill it, except will performing the pressure leak test. Normally you leave it open.

It prevents damage to your boat hull due to pressure differences inside the hull versus outside.

Ever see the science demonstration with teh gallon can and boiling water?

Although your boat is not full of freshly boiled water vapor it often may sit on a dock in teh hot sun and develop nice light hot air inside.
When you drop the boat in teh cool lake, teh air shrinks and unless there is a way for air to rush in, teh hull caves in like that metal can on Mr Science.

Do not even THInK about covering that tiny hole.

Last: It sure is nice to see that somebody else knows how to spell teh!!!

Work on becuase and a few others and we can make our own dictionary.
